About Me
My Background
I am Dr. Marva Smith, founder of Protect Her Destiny, LLC. I am a Wife, Mother and Educator who curates programs and platforms to guide the advancement of the educational, personal, and spiritual lives of women, girls, and families. I have 20+ years of mentoring, ministry, and community/government engagement experience in the education and nonprofit sectors. I have an earned PhD in Higher Education Leadership, two Masters in Education Policy and Sociology and Education with over 15 years of experience working in education from early childhood to graduate and professional programs. Now, as an education consultant and doctoral coach, I help others protect their destiny and reach their academic and life goals.
My Experience
Who is Marva Smith, Ph.D.? Marva is a woman who was taken in by her grandparents at four years old and for 33 years was taught how to Protect Her Destiny. I am a girl from the Southside of Chicago. My life journey is filled with locks, for which I had the key but did not know; bars that allowed me to only see life in segments; surrounded by people who prayed for me and preyed on me. My story is one of blessings and burdens of being the youngest, the chosen child, the educated one, the strong one, the advocate for everyone.
I am a member of several professional organizations, I sit on Urban Mommy Board, and stay highly engaged in online professional learning communities. I work with clients from across the country, authors, doctoral students, and ministers as a doctoral coach, editor, and speaker.
About Me
When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband, writing devotions and books to help women and families create opportunities to transform their life and legacy and raising for our baby girl, Mara. Protecting HER destiny is my greatest legacy.

I offer a 20-minute educational consultation, to determine if I am the best fit for you.
Doctoral Coach
I provide doctoral students and candidates guidance about topic selection, writing a research study, conducting a research study, research methodology, editing, preparing for defense, and more.
Hourly rate of $75 Monthly Retainer available
Editing
Professional copy editing services for graduate students, authors, non-profits, and professionals. Cost varies based on the level of editing required, length of the document, the complexity of the project, and formatting needed. Retainer option available.
